Accessing Medicare Rebates
You don’t need a Medicare rebate to see a psychologist—anyone is welcome to book an appointment. However, if you’d like to claim a rebate through Medicare, you’ll need a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and a referral from your GP or specialist. Please note that we’re unable to process any rebate without these documents. The full fees are payable upfront before your rebate can be processed.
To obtain an MHCP, simply book an appointment with your GP and let them know you’d like to access psychological support. During your visit, your GP will work with you to create a plan and provide a referral if appropriate. You can then choose to see any psychologist you prefer, even if they differ from the one listed on your referral. If you’re unsure about how this works, your doctor or our team will be happy to explain the process further.
To ensure you’re eligible for a rebate, please provide us with a copy of your MHCP and referral letter either before or at your first appointment. You can bring them along in person, or your GP may send them to us directly. Medicare currently offers rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. If you have any questions or would like help navigating the process, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Private Health Insurance
Depending on your private health fund and level of coverage, you may be able to claim a rebate for sessions not covered by Medicare. After your appointment, you can submit your receipt directly to your health fund to receive any eligible rebate. We recommend contacting your provider in advance to confirm the rebate amount and understand what your policy includes.
-
Cancellation Policy
To allow fair access for all clients, we kindly ask that you provide at least 24 hours (one working day) notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Cancellations made with less notice will incur a $50 fee, which helps cover the time reserved specifically for you. Please note that Medicare and Private Health Fund rebates do not apply to missed or cancelled sessions.
We understand that there may be times when you don’t feel up to attending your session, but we encourage you to come along whenever possible. Research shows that consistent attendance plays an important role in achieving lasting progress and positive outcomes through therapy.
-
Insurance Claim
If you are covered under a Workers Compensation or Motor Vehicle Accident insurance claim, you may be eligible for psychological support where a psychological response to an injury has been identified. Please feel free to contact us directly to discuss insurance-based referrals and any associated costs for legal or assessment reports.

REMOTE CONSULTATIONS
We offer remote consultations via telephone or video (such as Zoom) for your convenience. Standard billing rates apply to these sessions. While some therapeutic approaches are best conducted in person depending on your individual needs, many clients find that online sessions can be equally effective. As a starting point, I recommend an initial face-to-face appointment so we can explore your preferences and determine the approach that will best support you moving forward.
